An international faith organisation commissioned us to undertake a series of investigations into allegations of misconduct against different pastors, based across the UK. Some of the cases were historical in nature, others were current.
The investigation involved considering written records, interviewing witnesses including those who had experienced harm, and those accused of causing the harm. The resulting reports enabled action to be taken including referral to internal panels, liaison with statutory services including the police, and remedial action to be taken concerning those who had experienced harm. The investigations were important in providing evidence led findings, recommendations for improvement (including strengthening of safeguarding structures and processes), and allowing unheard voices to be heard, and abusive experiences acknowledged and remedied.
