This course is designed for practitioners working with children and/or adults who want a deeper understanding of safeguarding and their responsibilities within it.

Participants will explore the full spectrum of safeguarding, key principles and definitions, current trends, and risk factors. The course covers recognising concerns, anticipating risks, safe workplace culture, whistleblowing, and best practice. Attendees will also reflect on their role, what to do when concerns arise, the importance of self?care, and where to seek advice or support. By the end, participants will have identified their own next steps as safeguarding professionals.


Tackling ‘Toxic Masculinity’ and Misogyny in Educational Settings

This one hour seminar is for anyone working with children or young people who wants to better understand the rise of the manosphere and its influence. The session explores what the manosphere is, what young people are encountering online, the concepts of toxic masculinity, and how social media fuels misogyny. It examines the scale of the issue, its impact on children and young people, and possible ways forward.

The seminar is delivered by Adele Gladman, independent safeguarding consultant and director of Adele Gladman and Associates.

This full day course is for new and existing Designated Safeguarding Leads in education and other workplaces, supporting those working with both children and adults.

Attendees will explore key DSL responsibilities, how the role fits within their organisation, and common challenges. The course includes updates on current safeguarding trends, KCSIE 2025, and the new mandatory duty to report child abuse. Participants will examine best practice in managing allegations, maintaining safe workplaces, decision?making, recording, and information sharing. They will also discuss effective safeguarding structures, positive workplace culture, multi?agency partnership working, and real?world scenarios relevant to their setting. The day also covers staff support, self?care, and good record keeping. By the end, DSLs will have identified their next steps within their school or organisation.
